EXTENSIONS & CONVERSIONS

Barn Conversions
Spray-applied polyurethane foam can provide the most cost effective method of converting loft and barn roofs and walls and meet the ever-increasing demand for energy efficient buildings. PU foam is applied directly to the underside of the tiles or roofing felt, creating a warm deck construction without the need for a ventilated airspace. Only 75mm thickness is required to achieve a U-value of better than 0.25W/m2K. This fits snugly between the rafters so that they may be left exposed as an aesthetic feature.

Problems of evening-up irregular surfaces, such as closing the ventilation off at eaves level, are easily overcome by building up the foam to the required profile. After some attention to trimming and removing overspray, a single coat of bonding plaster is laid to leave an attractive, authentic finish. The design complies with BS 5250: 2002 'Control of Condensation in Buildings' with no occurrence of surface or interstitial condensation.

Loft Conversions
Storage voids at eaves level are kept as part of the warm deck construction and free of draughts and fibre glass. If you're planning to convert the loft into extra living space you'll want to comply with latest Building Regulations which continually upgrade insulation requirements. You will end up with a much better result - and an almost certainly less expensive one - when you use spray-applied foam to convert the roof to a warm deck construction.
